§ 10.05.00. Protection of groundwater.

  • In order to protect and conserve ground water resources, the following standards apply:

    1.

    All open space and landscaping requirements of this Code shall be enforced so as to provide for, among other things, rain fall percolating down to the sand and gravel aquifer (The Floridian aquifer is not recharged in the town or Okaloosa County).

    2.

    Restrictions on activities within the cone of influence of any potable water well which may be located within the town shall be strictly enforced.

    3.

    Water withdrawn from the sand and gravel aquifer may be used only for irrigation purposes.

    4.

    No two shallow sand and gravel aquifer wells shall be located within 25 feet of each other.

    5.

    Any new shallow sand and gravel aquifer wells shall be permitted by the town only if the applicant therefor obtains any permits which are, or may be, required by the Northwest Florida Water Management District.
