§ 11.07.02. Nonconforming sign restrictions.

  • All nonconforming signs, unless governed by F.S. § 70.20, shall be subject to the following restrictions:

    A.

    No nonconforming sign may be enlarged or altered in a way which increases its nonconformity, but any sign or portion thereof may be altered to decrease it nonconformity.

    B.

    No nonconforming sign shall be structurally altered to prolong the life of the sign, but work may be done in any period of 12 consecutive months on ordinary repairs, or on repair and replacement of nonstructural components to an extent not exceeding 25 percent of the current replacement cost of the nonconforming sign.

    C.

    Should a nonconforming sign be destroyed by any means to an extent of more than 50 percent of its value at the time of destruction as reflected on the personal property tax return filed by the owner, it shall not be reconstructed except in compliance with these regulations.

    D.

    Should a nonconforming sign be moved for any reason, it shall thereafter conform to the provisions of this Code and any regulations for the district in which it is located after it is moved.
